5 Tips to Boost Your Valentines Day Sales

Valentines Day and Lingerie are intimately intertwined in the minds of many consumers. What that means is a great opportunity for retailers – both in bricks-and-mortar stores and online – to boost your lingerie business. Here are 5 Key Tips to maximize the value for your customers to make your cash register sing this Valentines Day.

1. Keep it Simple

Ensuring the right inventory is the first important step. Shopping for a lingerie gift means understanding a woman’s size and style preferences. Make it easier for significant others by having more pieces that are easy to buy. “Men like to buy silky sexy pieces and easy sizing. For example, babydolls are ideal,” offers Catherine Coast, of online retailer Violet’s Knickers. It can also be helpful to have size neutral, pre-packaged boxed sets handy for grab-and-go shoppers.

2. Fulfill Wishes

Encourage customers to create wish lists, so that preferences and sizes are known in advance. Says Erica Windle of A Sophisticated Pair, “We like to encourage customers both in-store and through our email newsletter to update their file, and we often send links to newly released fashion sets as well as bra-sized lingerie.  Then, the women can send their significant others to the shop to pick something they find attractive from the list.” Wish lists make purchasing easy for both your sales team and the folks who are doing the gifting – plus, it ensures that your customers get something they love. Wish lists are easy to use in both online and bricks-and-mortar stores.

3. Wrap it Up

Even if gift-wrapping isn’t something you normally offer, consider adding it to your customer service mix for Valentine’s Day. You want to make it as easy as possible for men to buy from you, and being a one-stop shopping experience does exactly that. Build your brand by making the wrapping experience as luxurious as the merchandise you offer. A Sophisticated Pair offers “personalized gift wrapping services, which many married men find to be a relief.” At Violet’s Knickers, they take gift-wrapping a step further, offering “a little extra gift” with the service, and making it an upsell.

4. Party On

Consider partnering with a local business to make options even more diverse and provide a day/date specific reason to show up. At A Sophisticated Pair, “we are also hosting a “Bras and Bling” party the week before Valentine’s Day for our customers.  We’ll have a jewelry representative visiting the store and showcasing some gorgeous Valentine’s Day jewelry that works with some of the bras and lingerie sets we’ll have handy.” What local businesses can you partner with? Be creative! Find a boutique soap maker, a chocolatier, or artisan craftsperson.

5. Less is More

Whether your customer is buying something to entice her Valentine or shopping for a gift, focus on the best quality they can afford. It’s always better to get something special for a holiday. “Let’s put it this way, a woman can spot budget nightwear from a mile away…so no penny pinching!” says Coast. From a business perspective, it’s always a good idea to sell customers into a smaller item from a more luxurious brand – chances are, they’ll appreciate the difference quality makes once they’ve experienced it for themselves, and then they’ll come back for more.

Tips on how to wear shoes with lingerie

Someone wrote that no one wears or should wear lingerie with flats. Well, that’s a good thought because even if you don’t usually wear heels you’ll need a pair of black classic stilettos to make your lingerie outfit look even sexier. Besides your legs dressed in stockings and a pair of heels can make you look slimmer, taller, elongate your legs. As a result you will spice up your night and surprise your man with a new unusual look. However, in order to make this right read our tips on wearing shoes with sexy lingerie.

So the first unwritten rule is to wear heels or nothing at all. In heels you will look sexier and taller, barefoot look will add some innocence feel.

Open toe shoes mean no stockings on, because together they look bad. Peep toe shoes are worn by the same rule, though if the shoes show only one toe then they might work with the stockings. Shoes and stockings should desirably be  of the same color.

Classic shoes. Black, white, leather – all classic shoes or heel-strap sandals will complete your outfit. Choose the right color, if your lingerie is shiny you may wear patent-leather shoes that match your lingerie color. If your lingerie is of solid color then opt for solid color in your shoes.

Creative shoes. You may experiment in your bedroom not only with your stockings color or pattern but also with your shoes. Just be sure they match and not overwhelm the whole outfit. You may opt for lace shoes or some fancy heels or even high thigh boots as long as they match your whole look. Try something new, something that you wouldn’t wear in your everyday life because it’s too extravagant or fanciful and you will find that it’s fun and sexy.

The height of the heels depends on you, however choose the heels that are comfortable and wearable. If you can’t walk on the heels try practicing a bit before wearing them for your special night, otherwise you may look awkward and even fall.

While high-heels and high thigh boot shoes look best with a lingerie set paired with a garter belt, low heel slip on shoes will work best with peignoir, slip, chemise or a babydoll. Basques and corsets look great when worn with high-heel shoes. Camisoles look great without stockings and when you are barefoot. You can break these ‘rules’ in favor to your liking because it is important that you feel comfortable and confident in your lingerie on your special night.

Claudette AW14 Sneak Peek

One more reason to get excited for the upcoming CurveNY show is a visit with Claudette at Jacob Javits. The brand’s designer and director of brand development Bok Goodall sent us preview images of AW14 along with insights into Claudette’s new offerings and styles including their new collection Paloma.

For AW14 the brand’s Dessous collection amps up the color spectrum as Goodall notes: “Our beloved Dessous collection really does use every colour in the crayon box this season. As well as offering solid Black and Blondie with Black trim as continuity colours.” Claudette’s lace plunge bra, Bardot is shown this season in Pointe Shoe (a soft pink) and Club Med (a rich ocean like blue), both with the brand’s trade-mark striped bows. Claudette’s Sophia is back in Club Med and Cayenne, both trimmed with Black for a sophisticated winter palette. Like Bardot, Sophia will be available in solid Black as continuity. Goodall also noted that Fishnet is “back with a bang” for AW14 in Caipirinha and Pointe Shoe, both with a delicate high shine trim. “Odette offers a long line bra, with newly added high waist pin up knickers with removable suspenders. This collection is available in Caipirinha lace over Elsa Pink mesh, and Dahlia lace over Pointe Shoe mesh,” said Goodall. “And, we have added a new collection – Paloma. 3 Ways to Prevent Him From Cheating

3 Ways to Prevent Him From Cheating

You are afraid that he will get board of you and eventually cheat. Or, you are dating a man with the history of cheating. You want to do everything in your power to prevent that from happening but you are not quite sure what is effective enough. I will give you 3 steps, you should follow them to prevent him from cheating.

You are with the guy you really like. You have a solid relationship. You are intimate with each other. Maybe you are too intimate. Maybe there is no more mystery. But you are afraid that he might cheat on you. This idea grows in your mind and now you are starting to intensively think about what you should do to prevent that from happening.

1. Take a Look in the Mirror

I know that we girls stop paying too much attention on what we look like around the house. He loves you for who you are and there is no need to put makeup and sexy outfit on while you are lying on the couch and watching a movie or reading a book. Wrong! He does love you for what you are but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t like to be reminded on why you caught his eye on the first place.

Every once in a while put on his favorite sexy lingerie, do your nails, hair and start cooking diner or cleaning the house. Play a sexy housewife. He would most definitely appreciate it.

2. Pay Enough Attention to Him

You may be too busy to show him how much you care and you think that by now he should know. No one should guess what is going on in your heart and mind. Like us girls, men need constant attention too. You must find a couple of minutes in your schedule for him. Ask him how his day was, tell him that you are proud of him, and tell him that he makes you happy.

3. Alpha Male

Now ladies, this is very important. Things have changed recently, but for centuries, men were the only ones to put food on the table and to protect their land and women. This need is in their genes. No matter how successful you are, no matter how independent you feel, you should never ever make him feel like less of a man. He must be the alpha male, the provider, and the one you turn to when you are in any kind of trouble.

Just be careful not to become too needy. Too much of this can be a bad thing. You might look incapable of tying your own shoelaces and this will put him off. Balance is everything.

So ladies, there you go. To put it in simple words: treat him the same way you want to be treated because no matter how tough they might look, they still have feelings.

How to Make Your Boobs Look Bigger Without Surgery

We’re going to let you in on a little secret, one that might very well change the world as you know it:

You don’t need naturally big boobs in order to have great breasts. You can make your boobs look fantastic, simply by using the natural assets you already have at your disposal.Don’t believe us? Well, you soon will. Here are our top tips to improve the appearance of your breasts without surgery.

1. Invest in an awesome bra

If you’re small breasted, you might view bras as somewhat of a pretty accessory. Sure, they look good under your clothes and make you feel fabulous, but truth be told, they don’t really do much for you.Because besides sport bras, most ‘pretty’ bras for small boobs don’t actually offer any added benefit. They don’t support you, because you don’t need much support. And if you buy the wrong one, they definitely don’t flaunt your assets. And they sure as heck don’t make your boobs look bigger.

But the truth is, the right bra can make your boobs look ah-may-zing. It can make them appear perkier, bouncier and yes, bigger. To help you choose the sexy lingerie, here are our top bra-buying tips:Have a fitting. Okay, so I know how awkward it is to have your boobs poked, prodded and maneuvered by a stranger. And while this conduct is out of line on the dance floor, it’s actually beneficial for you in a lingerie shop. Provided it’s by someone who works there. Tee hee. Anyway, lingerie store employees may seem a little overbearing, but they actually know a heck of a lot about boobs. And in particular, how to make boobs look good. So while you might think that your regular 12A is your perfect bra size, a proper fitting will show you the best size to flaunt your assets. Shelve your embarrassment and allow the experts to do their best work with you.

Perfect padding. This one is simple: invest in a bra that has padding. This will help prop your breasts up and add one full cup size.Try a water bra. Much like a padded bra, a water bra will help make your boobs look bigger and perkier. But while cushioning and silicone adds an element of ‘fakeness’ to the bra, a water bra feels and acts natural. It molds to your body shape and naturally flaunts your assets.

Make sure your bra has underwire. This will help support your breasts as well as prop them up and increase your cleavage. Just make sure the underwire doesn’t press into your skin or is uncomfortable anywhere.

2. Fix your posture

Another great (and free) way to make your boobs look bigger is to ensure you have correct posture. When we slouch, allow our shoulders to slump forward and hunch our back, our breasts cave in and down. However, when we pull our shoulders back, lift our chin and straighten our back, our breasts move up and forward. Ta-da – instant breast lift and enhancement!Give it a shot now; you’ll be surprised at how much your posture can improve your body shape, and your mood.

3. Pump up your pecs

Next, if you want to improve the appearance of your breasts it’s worthwhile spending some time developing your pectoral muscles. By strengthening these muscles you’ll create the appearance of larger breasts and you’ll also do your health a world of good while you’re at it.Exercises like push-ups, single-arm bench press and dumbbell flyes all help to increase your chest strength.

4. The art of self-massage

According to Caitlin MacKenna, a herbalist and Reiki Master from Natural Remedy Site, it is possible to increase your breasts by one full cup size simply by massaging your breasts for 20 to 30 minutes a day. MacKenna believes self-massage can stimulate growth by boosting circulation and encouraging prolactin production.

She recommends massaging your breasts for 200 rotations each morning and evening. You should warm your hands (by rubbing them together) before massage and during for maximum benefit. Expect to see results in around 30 days.

5. Fake it

No, no, no this doesn’t mean we’ve given you permission to run off to your nearest cosmetic surgeon. Come back, we’re talking to you. What we are trying to say is that there is a way to fake large breasts and sumptuous cleavage without going under the surgeon’s knife. And in fact, you probably already have experience with the tools you need to fake it. Because if you’re like most women, you will wear your standard daily make up and have a few tricks up your sleeve for special occasions.

That’s right, you heard correctly – you can use makeup to create the impression of large breasts. It’s an old Hollywood trick and one that you have at your disposal too.  Simply by using highlighter and bronzer you can transform your cleavage from drab to fab. Perfect trick for those low-cut tops and dresses!

Babydoll Lingerie – Intimate Apparel for Intimate Moments

BabyDoll is a style of lingerie that is incredibly popular since decades. It is the perfect combination of style, elegance and sensuality. There are some people snooping about just how these sexy two-piece lingerie sets of today found their place in the ranks of best selling lingerie items.

What Exactly is Babydoll Lingerie?

Babydoll is a type of lingerie that consists of a short little nightgown along with matching panties that is sold as a set. It is basically a style that looks good on most any woman, no matter what shape and size, and the lingerie industry has capitalized on that fact. Women like to wear them because it is easy to hide certain areas of the body while showing off its other assets.

What is a fuss about Name?

At this point, you may be wondering just where and how the popular babydolls got their name. You may have seen or heard of a movie filmed back in 1956 called Baby Doll. This film was considered to be controversial for its time. Actress Carroll Baker wore this type of sleepwear in the movie, and soon women of all ages were clamoring for the same garment. Those who collect vintage clothing are thrilled when a babydoll set from this era is available to them.

History and Evolution of Babydoll :

It is thought that the babydoll style somewhat evolved from the short bed jacket, and from the bed capes that were popular with women of all ages in the 1930s and 1940s. These jackets were usually frothy and lacy, quite feminine in design, and today’s baby doll design is no different. They were also about the same length as today’s babydoll, but lacked the matching panties.

The babydoll varieties of today more than make up for the modest lingerie designs of yesteryear. The style has always been erotically popular, but the babydoll of today burst forth as hugely popular once more in the 1990s. Young people of that era developed a look known by the somewhat ambiguous name of “kinderwhore”, and this type of lingerie was an important part of that look. Babydoll styles are widely sought after nowadays, and most shops which sell fine lingerie have given the babydoll a category all its own. This is not surprising, as the variety of babydoll lingerie available today is enormous and can be considered a bit extravagant in decoration as well.

Lingerie is the ultimate passion of every single woman, the sensual link with her body, which makes her look stunning inside and out. When it comes to lingerie, we think much before choosing one. Lingerie tells a lot about a woman, especially her character, taste and the purpose for which she has chosen this or that particular piece.

In today’s variety of trendy, colorful sexy lingerie your head can go dizzy. Women start trying on different bras, corsets, comparing one with another and spending an entire day in a lingerie boutique to find the one that matches them best. There are women who know their size pretty well and do not even need to try a bra or a pair of lovely panties. But whenever you are going to wear a tight blouse or a transparent one, it is really important to check the top with the bra first, before buying it.

The choice of the right lingerie is very crucial for your overall look. Your outer clothes will not look fine if not worn on a smooth and correct base that is created by the lingerie. When choosing lingerie imagine how it will fit your body, for what occasions you can wear them and what clothes it will go with. Say good bye to those old fashioned grandma’s lingerie pieces that make you look old, weary and ugly. Choose the lingerie that is bright, lively and soft. Valentine’s Day: lingerie buying guide for men

Buying lingerie for someone else is not an easy thing to do. Boys, you have our sympathy – and our everlasting gratitude if you get it right! Not only do you have contend with issues of size, but there’s also style to consider. How many of us are truly comfortable buying an item of clothing for someone else? Style is a very personal thing, and when it comes to lingerie it can be even more difficult to get right. So, here is our attempt to help all you lingerie-hunting men out there make the right purchase this Valentine’s Day with our lingerie buying guide.

Now, we’re not trying to discourage you – we love to receive sexy lingerie – but we think it is important to understand why you’re buying it if you want to get it right. Is it because lingerie is a traditional Valentine’s gift? Is it because you would love to see your partner in racy lingerie? Or maybe it’s because she loves lingerie and you want to treat her to something she might not buy for herself?

If the answer is that she loves lingerie, then great, you’re onto a winner. However, if it’s because you love her in lingerie, then your search may already be off on the wrong foot because you’re thinking of your tastes and not hers. We’re not saying don’t buy sexy lingerie. We’re saying think about her personal style and what she likes and buy her something you think will make her feel sexy. That way you’ll buy her something she’ll love and wear again and again, not something that gets worn once and is then consigned to the back of the cupboard.

Go through her lingerie drawer. Yes, really. You have our permission. Most girls will have bras that they wear every day, and then one or two that they reserve for special occasions or outfits. Look at the lingerie she buys for herself and make a note of colours, brands and style. Does she like lace? Does she like frills or does she prefer to keep it simple? Prints or plains? Conservative or a little naughty? Does she like knickers or thongs?

It’s amazing how many men fall at this hurdle. If we had a pound for the number of times we’ve heard a flustered man in a lingerie department say to a shop assistant, ‘she’s about your size’, well, let’s just say we wouldn’t have such long wish lists!

Lingerie sizing is different to clothing size. Look in a few of her bras and you’ll find a size that looks something like 30C or 34E. There will always be a number – the back size – followed by a letter – the cup size. Sometimes there will be two letters, for example DD or FF. You need both the back size and the cup size. Don’t be surprised if the sizes differ in some of her bras, as the fit can change slightly between brands and styles. You’re better off going with the size you see most frequently, or, if you decide to buy her something from her favourite brand, the size in that brand’s bras.

Finally, make sure you check the size of the knickers or thongs she wears. These will be either standard dresses sizes (8, 10, 12, etc) or small, medium, large, etc. Getting the bra size wrong is forgivable, but the knicker size? A miscalculation either way is not going to be well received.

Now you know her size, her style preferences, and the brands she likes you need to decide how much you are going to spend. Your budget will depend on your personal circumstances and you don’t have to spend a fortune, but our advice is always buy the best you can afford, whether that’s £30, £60 or £100. Remember, you’re buying her something that is, basically, a wardrobe essential, so to make it special you need to push the boat out a little bit.  Plus, cheap lingerie can look like cheap lingerie, and that probably won’t elicit the reaction you’re hoping for.

And finally, always ask for a gift receipt. That way anything that’s not quite right can be quietly exchanged and everyone is happy.

Chantelle comes up Chantelle lingerie and swimwear 2014

Chantelle comes up with its own version of luxury and chic for summer presenting the totally flabbergasting and cool Chantelle lingerie and swimwear 2014 collection, which includes all the sassy and alluring pieces and design patterns possible, be that put via shapes, colors, or equal proportions of both. That’s where you can find comfy and sassy lingerie and swimwear designs for any body shape and preference.

Talking about the Chantelle lingerie 2014 collection, we should first of all note about the immediately noticeable accent on the diversity of colors, encompassing purple, blue, black, white, pearl green, coral, and many other alternatives. Lace is one of the primary and most frequently met textures used for the creation of the pieces. As for the pieces, they are quite numerous as well, presented mainly with classic two-pieces, yet designed with the most various shapes of that type ever. Starting with the balconette bras, we may continue this list with the triangle options, and finish it up with the strapless options. The nice ways of matching these shades with lace patterns and transparency plays are also noteworthy. The same can be said about the monochrome and monotexture options, also having some touches of minimalism.

Coming to the Chantelle sexy swimwear 2014 collection, we should again note the color diversity first, which does presuppose the variety of design patterns, and shapes in general. Unlike the lingerie section, here we may also notice some one-pieces, which also stand for the ultimate glam and chic. Particularly, we can talk about the chic dark khaki one-piece, coming with an extremely body-flattering shape and a plunge V-curve for the complete allure. Next, we should also talk about the triangle top and bottom coming with colorful patterns and side knots. The classic blue duo and the coral bandeau plus triangle bottom are also noteworthy. The same can be said about the stripy designs, the monochrome pure white alternatives and the navy blue chic variants.
So yeah, the Chantelle lingerie and swimwear 2014 collection is, indeed, a great option for consideration, so that you may have another array of alternatives to spice up your summer looks with. What you actually need to do is considering all the options and finding the most suitable ones. There will be many of them, we are sure!

Dear Kate Debut Collection

Dear Kate, the young fashion-meets-function lingerie line, is set to launch online this month followed by availability in specialty boutiques across the U.S. Pre-orders for the new collection start November 15, 2012. The debut collection—an assortment ranging from elegant high-rises and cream bodysuits to pastel bikinis and basic hipsters—pays homage to what every woman loves about her favorite intimates. While the designs alone catch the eye, it’s what’s underneath that has Dear Kate poised to make its mark with not only fashionistas but also new and expecting mothers. “Lingerie may not always be seen by others but it sets the mood for your day,” says Julie Sygiel, founder and CEO. “The risk of an oops moment shouldn’t mean we have to give up what we feel good in.”

Below the beauty of every Dear Kate sexy panties is a light-as-a-feather lining that protects women against stains and spills with the utmost discretion. Delicate to the touch and known for their easy wear-and-wash quality, the panties have already garnered a cult following through an earlier line in 2011. Originally named Sexy Period, the patent-pending high-tech underwear was geared towards women who wanted extra backup during their period without having to compromise on style. But when Sexy Period saw preteens, new moms experiencing incontinence, and even athletes embrace their panties, they knew a rebranding was in order. Known briefly as Underbrella before a trademark issue delayed a re-launch this summer, the team behind Dear Kate is pleased with the early praise they’ve already received.

“Kate is that best friend in a crisis, the one who rushes to your side with chocolate,” says Sygiel, on the line’s new name. “The women who wear our panties appreciate not only the innovation behind it, but also the community we’ve become and Dear Kate embraces that fully.”

Cara Delevingne is the New Face of La Perla Lingerie

You've seen the photos from Cara Delevingne's first La Perla campaign and now you can go behind the scenes on the shoot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Cara joins supermodels Liu Wen and Malgosia Bela in the ads, which showcase the lingerie brand's Spring Summer 2014 collection under the creative direction of Fabien Baron. The backstage footage includes interviews with La Perla's three model ambassadors, including Cara in her first sexy lingerie campaign. She uses the film as an opportunity to discuss her passion for acting, revealing, "I've loved acting since I was four years old and I first did a play, I knew I wanted to be a performer." The 21-year-old also explained her approach to life, particularly in regards to the way she communicates with other people: I think the thing with words is that they can mean so much, but also mean nothing at all. I try to always mean what I say.

Last month Cara gave us a sneak peek at her new La Perla campaign via her Instagram account, and shortly after all the pics landed. The Londoner is seen posing in four different lingerie looks from the collection, including an embroidered camisole, a lace bustier and a matching sheer bra and knickers set. Her hair is styled loose and wavy and her smoky eye makeup ensures she smolders. In one of the images, where the supermodel wears a white one-piece, it looks as if she's just stepped in from a rainy downpour as her hair is soaking wet and scraped back in a ponytail. Since her role with La Perla was confirmed in October, Cara has been getting plenty of underwear action. She walked in the Victoria's Secret catwalk show for a second year in a row and goofed around backstage on an i-D magazine shoot by trying on Miranda Kerr's barely there Chanel bikini.

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Features 3D Printed Lingerie

3D printing took center stage at the Victoria’s Secret fashion showlast month. Victoria’s Secret turned to architect Bradley Rothenberg to design the wings for supermodel Lindsay Ellingson to wear on the catwalk.

In an interview with Shapeways, Rothenberg explained his inspiration:

My first thought was to come up with a system for generating fractal snowflakes. We used processing as a tool to sketch different organizations of snowflakes & how different fractal organizations allow a shift from small textile-like snowflakes to larger structural snowflakes. We needed to come up with our own underlying system for making 3D snowflakes.

Rothenberg thinks 3D printing can be a game-changer in fashion in general.

“I think that 3D printing has a big possibility to change the industry as a whole,” he said. “Specifically what we want to do is make wearable 3D-printed stuff available to fashion designers,” Rothenberg told TechCrunch.

Here is supermodel Lindsay Ellingson wearing the 3D Printed creation.

With oversized prints of these recognizable faces Naki’s new bathing suit line is striking yet feminine. “I think swimwear should be fun, it’s one of the rare places in everyday fashion where women can be a little kitschy, a little out there, and totally sexy,” says Kerri Quigley the line’s designer.

Sumarie Classics Lingerie Collective

London-based couture swimwear label and online concept store Sumarie is a brand that truly embodies fashion forward design. Since being introduced to the company at Pure London this February I have done nothing but drool over the editorial-esque designs of the Classics Collection.

The label made its debut at the sexy lingerie collective in July of 2012. Having trained at the prestigious haute couture Parisian fashion institute Esmol, founder and designer Marie Su moved to London in 2006 and only three years later launched the Sumarie fashion house. When asked, Su finds inspiration for her designs in everyday objects such as nature, architecture, and vintage photographs.

Sumarie specializes in elegance and originality. Only the finest fabrics such as Lycra, power-nets, jacquard fabrics, and stretch georgette are used to create the collection. Each garment is given a perfectionist approach, which shows in the exquisite detailing. The brand offers a bespoke range of swimwear and beachwear that is suitable for women of all different body shapes and structures.

Kriss Soonik SS14

An email from designer Kriss Soonik is like a very lacy (digital) present. We’ve reported on her lovely brand in the past and have always been impressed by the artistry of her collections. So, when her email subject line read: “5th Anniversary SS14″ — we knew we were in for a treat. The present analogy is fitting as SS14 is Kriss Soonik’s 5th Anniversary collection. The new collection is split into two distinct categories: Loungerie and sexy lingerie.

Kriss also launched the “Rainbow of Bras” project — which brings back all of her brands signature colors used over the years. “This is an exclusive opportunity to a few stores just in time for next Valentine´s Day,” noted the designer. Kriss Soonik is showcasing her SS14 collection at the upcoming Lingerie Collective NYC Show August 4 – 6, 2013 at 320 Studios (320 West 37th St 14th Floor) — a ten minute walk from Jacob Javits center.

Simone Perele SS14 collection in NYC.

Last month, we had the opportunity — and pleasure — to see Simone Pérèle’s SS14 collection in person at their showroom here in NYC. Simone Pérèle’s Caroline Soulagnat walked us through the collection with hanger after hanger of gorgeous pieces. The brand’s SS14 collection is described as revealing “…a woman of intrigue and appeal. She is easy going yet multifaceted, romantic yet mysterious, deliberate yet spontaneous.”

As always, each collection is inspired by art, travel and culture. Quality fabrics, embroidery, laces and ribbons are selected with infinite care by the brand to enhance a woman’s natural curve. Along with some gorgeous designs, Simone Pérèle’s SS14 collection showcases the brand’s innovation with state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques like 3D knit technology in their Andora range and aloe vera infused lace in Caressence.

Simone Pérèle believes that every woman deserves to be exquisitely comfortable in her sexy lingerie. Divinely soft “Lotion Touch” microfiber (one of the finest knits ever created), hugs curves to perfection with a silky-smooth sheen surface. Folded, stitch-free microfiber edges draw pure lines and a seamless finish against the skin, so that no elastic or creases are felt. Adjustable straps complete the collection, offering three different positions (straight, racerback and halter) for the most discreet look under clothing. Inspiration is also a work of art in the making. Each season, Simone Pérèle artisans reinvent the collection by adding a new creative design element. This season, Inspiration makes its debut in alluring Midnight Blue and with a chic assortment of six straps that decorate the shoulders, including Simone Pérèle’s signature guipure accents, and an ultra-sensual lace back. Showcasing Simone Pérèle’s iconic style, each piece is signed with a silver-studded brand logo.

Insolence embodies the woman who is unafraid to be herself, and seizes her life with unabashed passion. Her sense of freedom is illustrated with dove-like embroidered wings using Saint Gallen embroidery. Supremely soft to the touch, each wing is worked in a dynamic juxtaposition of matte versus brilliance. Ethereal wings adorn bra cups in perfect symmetry, angled towards the straps to create a harmonious design that simply soars. Insolence honors the multifaceted aspects of what it is to be a woman, and her beautifully complex, sometimes contradictory nature. In White, Insolence expresses her purity of spirit; Plum calls forth her mysteriousness and depth, and Flame awakens her wild, provocative nature. Her exquisite nature and unbridled independence is captured in every detail: satin straps, pleated bows, the touch of satin framing the bust, and the hints of radiance emanating from the embroidered wings. Insolence illuminates the freedom of the spirit.

Tips for Choosing Sexy Lingerie

Choosing sexy lingerie isn't easy if you're the least bit self conscious. After all, when you're wearing a teddy or a babydoll, there's not much left to the imagination. If you're feeling wonderful, either because you're madly in love or you've been dieting and have reached your target weight, you can probably put on different types of sexy lingerie without feeling too self conscious. However for some women, the thought of wearing some sensual lingerie may prompt you to get those lights off as soon as possible, so it's important to feel comfortable with your own body and emphasise your positive features which will in turn make you feel appealing and desirable.

Women of today consider their lingerie as an important part of their wardrobe. Online shopping has made it very easy and opened up a new world for finding lingerie that is sexy, exotic and also comfortable to wear. Choosing the right lingerie for you may take a bit of practice. There are many different types of sexy lingerie to choose from and comfort is just as important as the way you look.

Popular types of lingerie are corsets, bustiers, babydolls, gowns, teddies and camisoles to name a few. The important thing to consider though is how much each type of lingerie will show off your particular figure. Some might draw attention to your breasts while others might show off your legs.

Here are some tips for choosing the right sexy lingerie for you: ¨ First, think about how you feel - are you shy or proud of your body? Are you embarrassed showing too much skin or are you comfortable hitting the beach in a tiny bikini? It is good to be daring but if modesty can't easily be forgotten you may find that a sexy lingerie set makes you feel more inhibited and not less. However, you may find that your lingerie is like a costume which makes you wilder than usual.

Focus on your best features. Sexy babydoll and teddies are perfect if you want to show a lot more leg and bust.

If you have small breasts choose lingerie that shows off your bottom or legs to distract from your breast size. Put on a pair of sexy stockings and a garter as they do a good job of lowering the eye to the legs. Bring the eyes to the areas of your body that you feel comfortable with. If you have large breasts, styles in plus size lingerie with under wired bras or halter tops can help lift and enhance cleavage.

Wearing Plus Size Underwear & Lingerie With Confidence

Purchasing plus size underwear doesn’t have to mean buying plain white cotton, beige or muted dull colors! To boost your self esteem as well as your mood try only buying underwear that is bright, cheerful and full of color!Add your own embellishments: If you still feel that your undergarments lack character and style it may be time to pull out your own needle and thread! To add personality to an otherwise dull pair of plus sized panties try stitching on small details purchased from a discount store such as mini bows, silk flowers or even small flirty heart appliques!

Try different styles: If you really want to wear your panties with pride you may need to venture outside of your “comfort” zone and try new styles. Now this doesn’t have to mean leaving your favourite briefs for a slinky g-string but it may mean leaving Fruit of the Loom behind. You never know, you might find wearing underwear that is a little bit different gives your spirit a much needed lift!Wear boys boxers for a sporty sexy look: One of the most important tips to remember when trying to find sexy lingerie is to not limit yourself to the predictable. You may find your new favourite pair of boxers one or two aisles over in the men’s department!Try to find cute, flirty patterns and prints: Whether you prefer flowers, polka dots, strips or paisley picking patterns and prints is a great way to liven up your panty drawer!Buy matching sets: There is definitely something sexy about wearing matching bra and panties that can make you feel feminine, flirty and mysterious.  So embrace your plus sized diva and choose sets when shopping!

Make sure that everything fits properly, no pinching, itching or synching: Nothing will ruin a perfectly good day quicker then ill-fitting undies or plus size bras. When shopping for plus size underwear make sure that your purchase fits comfortably enough to last all day.Invest in high end products: Not all unmentionables are created equal. If you can afford to shop at a boutique and spend a little extra on something special you should. It will definitely be worth it!Go organic: When purchasing plus size underwear try to buy garments which are made using organic fabrics. These earthy essentials are gentler on sensitive skin and will help to keep you comfortable, cool and confident all day long.Pitch what you have and buy new: Every woman has one or two sets of panties which are well past their best-before date. To ensure that you get all you can out of your new plus size underwear consider purging some of your old favourites and starting over!

The Lingerie Collective

The Lingerie Collective is pleased to once again welcome the French collection, Velvette Underwear. Parisian designer, Velvette, has hailed her work, “an ode to femininity – delicate and refined”. Her love for vintage wear is keenly played out in her lingerie designs.

With its flounces, pleats and cleverly placed ties, this collection has rightly earned the description of “retro chic”. The fabrics and finishes on these gorgeous garments, gives this range a high end finish. Lace, tulle and swiss muslin create a delicate feel to these pieces, intending them to look and feel like “second skin”.he core shades are a delicate waltz of pastels and nudes but touches of rich aubergine, deep red and flirty coral inject some welcomed colour into this superbly feminine assortment.

Whilst there is a sense of romanticism to the collection, shape and design of the bras and briefs are still quite functional. Balconette and plunged bras paired with ruched high-waisted and midi bottoms will entice us to keep reaching for them as every day staples. Luckily this season, they are being sold separately so we can make practical mix and matches. Velvette has whetted our appetite by sending a preview of her designs but they can be viewed up close at the Lingerie Collective in just a few short weeks.

Summer 2013 Swimwear Trends

At last we can relax and enjoy warm sunny days with temptation of coming summer that is all about beach parties, sun and water. I am sure that you also wait for those days and the best part of them is swimwear. It is high time to find out what is going to be on trend this year so do not waste your time and check out summer 2013 swimwear trends.

2013 fashion trends are very contrastive and it concerts to all types of clothing be it swimwear, dresses, pants, shoes or accessories. Actually it is great because you will not have to follow fashion rules when choosing something for you. When it comes to swimwear, choosing trendy style is totally wrong because first of all you should take into consideration body type and features that should be hidden or highlighted and then find perfect match for you. Here are some ideas of 2013 swimwear trends and tips how to choose proper style. One piece swimsuits are on trend and if you think that they look boring you are totally wrong. Many popular labels and designers included fabulous one piece swimsuits in 2013 summer collections. This is the best option for those who want to hide stomach and look slimmer.

Another reason why one piece swimsuits are so popular recently is that they have some retro allure. Retro influence is quite strong and in this case too retro styles are on the top of popularity.Next sexy swimwear trend that I want to show you is mismatching top and bottom. Combine crazy colors and prints for more dramatic look or go for subtle tones for elegant look. You can combine monochromatic bottom with colorful top or vice verse. The choice is yours.Cut -out swimwear looks so sexy and attractive. It hides all imperfections yet shows off all beautiful curves and for such functionality this type still remains one of the best styles of swimwear.

Andrej Pejic Booked a Lingerie Campaign

In addition to his successes on "both sides" of the runway, Pejic is booking both menswear and womenswear campaigns, and well-paying catalogue jobs. His latest is for Dutch retail chain Hema, modeling their women's sexy lingerie — including Hema's "mega push-up bra," which must have mega properties indeed, because Pejic has no breasts to "push-up." His Sydney-based agent spoke with Australian fashion blog Frockwriter, saying the ads "[are] revolutionary ... I've never known a man to do a women's lingerie campaign before."

Pejic looks very pretty in the pictures, but of course — and such is the "power" of his androgynous features — he's likely to be mistaken for a female model by those who don't know who's who in modeling right now. However! The shoot is already becoming controversial in the Netherlands, where, realizing this is not a woman, citizens worry the ads will send a negative message to young women on a never-ending quest to get skinnier.

How Pejic came to be working what appears to be a solid B-cup is answered easily enough (gym socks, chicken cutlets, small balloons, etc.), but the question of what message this sends to Hema's lingerie's buyers is more awkward — and seems certain to foster a new round of opinion pieces about how lazy (and often, gay male) fashion designers only want to design women's clothing for boy-ish frames. But is it more problematic for girls with body-image issues to see a male body in ads for women's lingerie, or on a fake one entirely? And why are these even viable options when, gosh, there are a lot of women out there with undies-campaign-worthy physiques?

Scarlett Johansson Strips to Sexy Lingerie, Talks With a British Accent in Under the Skin Movie Trailer

In a recently released trailer for her upcoming flick Under the Skin, the 29-year-old actress shows off her sexy lingerie while playing a dangerous and seductive alien that preys on hitchhikers using a human body.

The trailer starts out with a celestial image of a planet. A dark-haired Johansson is then seen riding down an escalator, browsing some clothes in a store then putting on makeup in a hand-held mirror while riding in the passenger seat of a car.Johansson chats with the male driver before she suggests they head back to her place. Back home, she strips down to nothing but a black bra and panties while enticing the man as he wades through a dark liquid.

Among the many other things shown in the dark and semi-confusing trailer are Johansson walking down a windy beach followed by a man standing alone in the snow. The trailer ends with a person engulfed in flames running through a forest. How's that for drama?

Selena Gomez Poses In Lingerie In Sizzling ‘Stars Dance’ Outtake

Selena Gomez almost broke the internet when she updated her Instagram with a fuzzy pic underneath a curtain. Fans mused that she *could* be naked and the blogs immediately started buzzing. I wonder how they will react to an even sexier outtake from her Stars Dance photo shoot, which surfaced online today (March 27).

The 21-year-old looks even more gorgeous than usual in the sizzling pic, posing in black sexy lingerie and a silk robe. The shot is still completely G-rated in a world where Miley Cyrus shows her breasts more often than her driver’s license but it’s definitely on the sexy side of things for Selena. Maybe she can re-use this still for her secret project?

Arsenic & Vieilles Dentelles

Sometimes good things come from being bad. Designer Laure Hurlet’s self-described greediness for fashion inspired her to create and launch her lingerie brand Arsenic & Vieilles Dentelles (A&VD). The Belgium-born designer launched the brand in 2012 and most recently showcased A&VD at last month’s Lingerie Fashion Week.

Arsenic & Vieilles Dentelles debut collection – Eat Your Little Pea – is steeped in the designer’s appreciation for Slow Fashion and offers lingerie fanatics a high-quality collection that is artful, sensuous and designed to be loved.

Laure adds: Arsenic & Vieilles Dentelles is a Lingerie label that believes sexy lingerie is more than a clothing — it’s a second skin, a real fashion accessory that acts as a beauty product within which women can have fun, express their personality and reveal their own sensuality.

Visitors to Lingerie Fashion Week had a chance to see the collection and meet Laure and her team in person at the event’s “One’s to Watch Exhibition”. The brand’s website showcases the collection of bras, knickers, thongs, garters, suspenders and A&VD’s very own Shibari-inspired rope.

Every A&VD intimates style is playfully named after a species of Pea and we’re sure every one of our readers will fall in love with the brand’s Mushy Pea suspender made from delicate black silk mesh and decorated with little black dots on the front. All of Arsenic & Vieilles Dentelles’ items are made from high end, environmentally safe materials and crafted in Belgium.

Is Agent Provocateur's 1950s housewife SS14 campaign sexy or sexist?

We can't decide if we love or loathe Agent Provocateur's SS14 suburban housewife sexy lingerie campaign. You're going to have to help us decide...

When we first spotted Agent Provocateur's SS14 suburban housewife lingerie campaign our brains started screaming SEXIST. But now we're not sure whether it's brilliantly devious or annoyingly out-dated?

The official party stance says, "Encapsulating the false utopian world that is synonymous with the suburban housewife of the 1950s, globally renowned photographer Miles Aldridge brings to life the distorted reality of the Stepford Wife..."Okay, so it's all about telling the stereotypes to do one. Or is it all about 'encapsulating' the perfect doting wife? We're confused.

Creative director Sarah Shotton says the campaign embodies, "the pristine and glossy 1950's housewife. Our campaign girl has it all, she's a lady in the street and a wildcat in the bedroom and the collection mirrors her pretty perfection."

Plus-Size Reality Show Winner Lands Sexy Lingerie Campaign

We’ll be honest, we don’t tend to expect too much of America’s Next Top Model winners. We love a telegenic crew of dramaculous 20-somethings as much as the rest of America, and we always enjoy watching their crazy photoshoot challenges and hope the best for them after they win, but we’re always shocked to see them after their season wraps. After the second or third cycle, we started to feel a little awkward whenever Tyra Banks mentioned the name of the show. Calling it America’s Next Top Model just seemed disingenuous, given that no actual top models were actually created.

But now one of her winners has a legit campaign. Whitney Thompson, the first plus-size model to claim victory on a season of ANTM back in cycle 10, landed a sexy lingerie campaign for Panache Lingerie‘s line, Sculptress, which has band sizes from 36 to 46 and cup sizes that run from D to J.“I feel feminine and sexy when I wear the pieces, which is important for me and other curvy women,” Thompson said. “It’s about time we had a collection like this for the real woman.”Boo! -12 points for trotting out the tired “real women” argument. Kate Moss is just as much of a “real woman” as Thompson, they’re just women who have different body types. And all body types should be able to be clad in fancy lingerie if their owners so desire.

Thompson does look mega sexy in the campaign, though her hair is sporting such an odd dye job we wondered if Tyra showed up and forced her through another weird makeover. You could cut glass with those cheekbones or eyebrows, though, and her boobs look fantastic, which is a good advertisement for the bra she’s wearing.

“You can really tell that they understand the fit,” she said of the Sculptress line. “I don’t care how cute a bra is if it doesn’t fit me properly! Each piece in the collection is a comfortable fit with great support, and they’re beautiful.”

Lingerie trade ban has Russia's knickers in a twist

MOSCOW — A trade ban on lacy lingerie has Russian consumers and their neighbors with their knickers in a twist.

The ban will outlaw any underwear containing less than 6 percent cotton from being imported, made, or sold in Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. And it has struck a chord in societies where La Perla and Victoria's Secret are panty paradises compared with Soviet-era cotton underwear, which was often about as flattering and shapely as drapery.

On Sunday, 30 female protesters in Kazakhstan were arrested while wearing lace underwear on their heads and shouting "Freedom to panties!"

The ban in those three countries was first outlined in 2010 by the Eurasian Economic Commission, which regulates the customs union, and it won't go into effect until July 1. But a consumer outcry against it already is reaching a fever pitch.

Photos comparing sexy modern underwear to Soviet goods began spreading Sunday on Facebook and Twitter as women and men railed against the proposed changes.

From corsets to flappers:Lubbock costume shops help create outfits from a century of fashion

With the Vernacular Music Center hosting its annual Dancing with Mr. Darcy event, this year with an added “Downton Abbey” theme, many Lubbock attendees are in search of a period Sexy Costumes for the 19th century-themed event. Though the vintage look may be tricky to capture, Lubbock costume shops are home to many essential elements that can be used to create the perfect period costume.

Duke’s Duds Costume Rental at 2806 Avenue A supports Lubbock Moonlight Musicals and is home to hundreds of costumes representing more than 100 years of fashion. Duke’s Duds shop manager Gatlin Alldredge said he’s been helping customers achieve the “Downton Abbey” and Jane Austen’s England looks by providing vintage 1960s and ’70s outfits that were modeled from those periods.

Although Jane Austen’s novels, which inspired the Dancing with Mr. Darcy events, were published in the early 19th century, “Downton Abbey” does not take place until the early 20th century. This gives event attendees a wide range of fashion styles to choose from. Alldredge said a popular style with customers is a look closer to the “Downton Abbey” trend.

“The style that we’re going with is a little bit later in the 19th century,” Alldredge said, “when they had gone to the thinner look with layers.”

Alldredge highlighted many of the era’s styles, including dresses with single overlays, tulip style dresses and skirts, beaded pieces and the shift away from corsets.

“They don’t wear corsets, it’s not the skinny waist,” Alldredge said. “It’s more of an A-line cut, a no-waistline kind of a thing.”

Cynthia Ward, owner of Vintage Rose at 3424 34th St., also said many Dancing with Mr. Darcy customers have rented outfits from the “Downton Abbey” era.

“The period is Edwardian, starting around 1901,” Ward said. “Dancing with Darcy is Jane Austen period, and they did that for years. It was problematic for everybody because that’s pretty early. That’s 1800s; with the corsets and the bustles, it’s extremely difficult.”

Ward said she was happy to see the addition of the “Downton Abbey” theme, as it gave event attendees more costume choices. She emphasized the popularity of empire waistlines in the Edwardian period, as well as large hats, dainty jewelry and high gloves.

Ward said 1920s costumes are also popular for the Dancing with Mr. Darcy event, and guests can accessorize one of their own straight dresses with beads, feather boas and headbands with feathers and jewels to achieve a ’20s look.

“I have some dresses from the ‘20s that work, because ‘Downton Abbey’ is moving in on that era,” Ward said. “For the most part, the ‘Downton Abbey’ crowd likes the ‘20s.”

Ward emphasized the trend of dainty necklaces with drops, while Alldredge said popular jewelry included pearls, lengthy and asymmetrical necklaces and silvers. He said these styles should be easy for event attendees to mimic with their own jewelry.

Along with imitating jewelry styles, Alldredge provided a few tips for how event guests can make their own costumes from things they have at home.

For women, Alldredge said, layers are necessary.

“Doing over-the-shoulder shawls or tying a shawl around the waist to create that sort of v-look that was the overlay for the skirts,” Alldredge said.

He also included high neck collars, heeled shoes and rounded updo hairstyles.

Ward said any dress with an under-bust, empire waistline could be appropriate for the Edwardian era and that a ‘20s shoe can be mimicked by a strappy modern shoe with a short heel.

For men, Alldredge said, a normal black or gray suit can be worn if it is accented with whites.

“It would be very appropriate for a man to have a white dinner vest,” Alldredge said. “They generally would have had tailed coats, but they also would have had dinner coats, so a square jacket is acceptable.”

He added that shiny shoes are a plus.

With the already popular Dancing with Mr. Darcy’s addition of a “Downton Abbey” theme, event attendees have more than a century of fashion trends from which to choose. Fortunately, they also have a few costume shops in Lubbock that are ready and eager to help create the perfect outfit.

“I like that they added ‘Downton Abbey, it gives them some choices,” Ward said. “Even if it is originally based on the Jane Austen story of getting Darcy to dance.”

Dancing with Darcy at Downton Abbey will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Museum of Texas Tech, 3301 4th St.
